What London lacks in serene landscapes and breathtaking beach views it more than makes up for with one of the most diverse spa scenes in the world.
Whether you're seeking an early-morning yoga session in the park, an express lunchtime pamper or a "Mr Big" facial the capital has no shortage of options. In this respect it is hot on the well polished heels of New Yorkers.
Many of Time Out's shortlisted spas are in Central London, from historic Turkish baths and old favourites like the Sanctuary in Covent Garden to ladies' beauty salons and state-of-the-art spas such as the one at the InterContinental hotel.
Move out into zone 2 and beyond and there are some excellent high-street treatment rooms waiting to be discovered; many of these lack wet facilites but are often independently run and competitively priced.
