Some captains just keep leading by example. Jamie Peacock wrestled his way past six tacklers for Great Britain’s first try after 1min 12sec and New Zealand were battered, bewitched and bewildered for another 78 minutes in Hull as the Lions secured a first series victory since a 3-0 “blackwash” of the Kiwis in 1993 — their target for the final match, in Wigan on Saturday.
Peacock could be one of those rested by Tony Smith after his totemic display, although the prop remains to be convinced by the Britain coach, who is looking to test his potential 2008 World Cup squad in the third game. “We have to win one more game, then I’ll start to think about having a rest,” Peacock said. “It was a great performance and a great result, but neither meant as much to me as winning the series. A generation of players have missed out on that feeling.”
A third victory would be a fitting conclusion to the last game on home soil under the Great Britain label, before the name change to England, and Smith has faith in some less experienced charges finishing the job.
Once Leon Pryce stepped back inside the perilously thin black line for Britain’s second try, New Zealand were outpaced and outwitted at every turn.

Not easy I know but in defence of The Times this report was accompanied in Monday's paper by a large commentary by Christopher Irvine on GB winning the series - there was a full page on the match. I've also seen his commentary here online.
Frank Pritchard, Grimsby,
As an RU supporter and occasional RL watcher, I'd have to agree with what most people say here. The first GB series win for 14 years and the match report is this size? Where was the headline on the main Times page shouting out "GB Series Triumph"? A very disappointing response to an outstanding success. Well done GB, best of luck to England in the future. It really does look bright now.
Jim Dandring, Droitwich,
Wait until Sports Personality of the Year on BBC, what odds would you get for Leeds Rhinos being the team of the year? No it will probably be England's Union losers!
Mike Barlow, Agua Dulce, Tenerife
Peacock isn't in that picture and the match hardly features in this tiny report. Is that the best the Times can offer?
Why does the Times treat rugby league with contempt?
Steffy, London,
If the GB captain had anounced after the game he was defecting to RU then I am sure The Times coverage would be extensive to say the least!
Nevertheless, well done Great Britain, lets finish the job off in Wigan and let the famous red and blue V of GB bow out on a high.
Christian., Wiltshire,
I`m curious as to why the coverage of this great British display is so limited ?
GrahamB, London, UK
Why does The Times even bother ? It treats Rugby League with utter contempt.
