PSP, £25; ages 7+

This instalment of the popular Ratchet and Clank sci-fi series is designed for the handheld PSP. Ratchet, the cute catlike protagonist, has been falsely accused of theft. You play as Clank, his little metal sidekick, to rescue Ratchet from prison. Clank has adopted a secret agent persona and must utilise various 007-style gadgets such as spinning bow-tie boomerangs or fountain pens that nullify laser beams with squidgy ink. There’s much sneaking about and comedy combat to enjoy. The Bondish soundtrack is enjoyable and the gameplay is varied. There are a few problems: the controls are fiddly until you learn to tweak the camera settings and if you’ve played the PS3 version, this will seem cut down by comparison in terms of plot, the number of levels and options, including weapons and opponents. That said, Secret Agent Clank is highly enjoyable and at times hilarious.
