People with blue houses are more successful than those living in homes of any other colour, a survey found.
The average owner of a blue home earns £38,000 a year, and takes at least two holidays abroad. He or she will have achieved two significant promotions, and half describe themselves as a director or manager. Most have at least three people working below them, according to the survey for Sandtex paints, in which 3,000 homeowners took part.
The average “blue” homeowner is in a long-term relationship and has two children and four close friends.
Fourteen per cent pay for a cook when entertaining, 11 per cent have a regular cleaner, and 8 per cent employ a nanny. Owners of green houses are the worst off, the survey found, earning only £13,100 annually. They were found to be happy, however.
Victoria Jones, spokesperson for Sandtex, said: “This poll certainly demonstrates that people decorate their houses differently depending on how they are doing in their professional and personal life.”
The study found that annual earnings by house colour were: blue, £38,000; red, £23,500; white, £23,400; magnolia, £23,100; beige, £20,800; orange, £20,000; purple, £19,600; grey, £19,000; yellow, £18,500; brown, £18,400; pink, £14,500; and green, £13,100.
