Chelsea A white oak tree, the arboreal equivalent of albino animals, has turned up in a seed tray at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The seedling is only a few inches high but its colour has surprised horticulturalists.
The pale leaves and pink stem suggest unusually low levels, or even absence, of the green chlorophyll that plants need for growth.
“I've never seen or heard of a white oak before,” said Bob Sweet, the Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea organiser. But he added: “The professionals here aren't so sure it will survive.”

I found a three inch albino oak seedling in my garden. It looks just like your's but the stem is greenish white.
