That movies are meant to entertain is a given. That 'Ironman' fulfilled that brief most certainly is not.

there will be blood was the worst movie ever. over acted and boring from beginning to end. just another hyped movie. ironman is the best film so far this year. has everything. directors seem to forget movies are made to entertain. there will be blood is just about a man's greed who turns psycho.

What about Son of Rambow? Very funny and clever, with amazing performances from the two boys in the lead roles, and a satisfyingly believable ending. All this and a non-Hollywood production - what more could you want?

I wonder if Lars and the Real Girl has come out in UK yet. I just watched it here in New Zealand and I loved it! A delightful film that challenges your thinking and has a beautiful tone throughout.

The idea of Cloverfield being in the category of "best" anything is frankly ridiculous. Unless you mean "best portrayal of irritating substanceless yuppies caught up in a film based solely on hype".
